Please help the remaining seven horses from the Somerset
case
On April 22, 2008, forty-seven
animals in Somerset, CA were taken by El Dorado County Animal control due to neglect. Thanks to the outpouring of support
from the community, all of the animals except for seven horses have been placed in loving homes.
After
being locked in 10x10 pens for the majority of their life, many of these horses need training and have special medical needs.
This has made adoption of these horses more challenging in what is already the worst horse market in history.
Like
many counties, El Dorado County is facing a $15 million dollar deficit this year, and the county simply can’t afford
to carry the burden any longer. While we would like to keep these horses, each horse cost the organization a minimum
of $200 per month. With one hundred rescued horses already under our care, our current budget does not
allow for the additional $1400 per month it will take to keep these horses.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. El
Dorado County is waving its normal fees, and is willing to look at any realistic bid. If you are unable
to adopt a horse but would like to help you can sponsor one of these horses or one of the other horses on the ranch.
Sponsorships range from $100 to $200 per month. You can also make a donation to the care of these
horses, and each and every dollar will help!
The date set for these horses to find new homes is September 1st 2008
Your generosity could make a difference in the lives of these animals
